Man arrested in Kano over alleged plan to invite bandits into community

A man identified as Sulaiman Fulani has reportedly been arrested by vigilantes in Kano State over allegations that he was planning to invite bandits into a community to carry out attacks.

The arrest was carried out by vigilantes under the command of Sadiq Mu’azu, the Tsaure area commander in Shanono Local Government Area of the state.

Security expert Bakatsine disclosed the development in a post on X, saying the man was arrested in Toronya community.

According to Bakatsine, local sources alleged that Fulani was inviting bandits into the area to carry out attacks on residents.

The security expert quoted the local sources as saying the allegation prompted the vigilantes to arrest the man.

“Local sources said he was allegedly inviting bandits into the area to carry out attacks,” Bakatsine wrote.

He said the development raised concerns over the possibility of individuals within communities allegedly facilitating access for criminal groups.

“The arrest again raises a difficult question: How do communities ever find peace when some people from within are accused of opening the door for those who terrorise them?” he added.

The arrest comes amid ongoing security concerns in parts of northern Nigeria, where communities continue to face threats from armed groups.

However, the allegation against Fulani has not been independently verified, and it was not immediately clear whether formal charges had been filed against him.
